Claims for services by other indigent defense providers, such as investigators, expert witnesses, certified shorthand reporters, and certain mental health evaluators, are submitted to the State Public Defender for review and payment from the indigent defense fund as miscellaneous claims. All services must have been incurred by defense counsel for an indigent client. Payment of miscellaneous claims is governed by Chapter 13 of the State Public Defender's Administrative Rules, which provide further instructions, which vary depending on the type of claim.
